Who We Are
INDO-GERMAN NACHKONTAKT ASSOCIATION @ HYD
INDO-GERMAN NACHKONTAKT ASSOCIATION (IGNA) was established in May 1985 with the support of Herr Wolfgang Meissner, the then Director of Max Mueller Bhavan, Hyderabad. It comprises mainly Scientists and technocrats who visited Germany for research/study from CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute, CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Electronic Corporation of India Ltd. and also from public sector undertakings and private business establishments located in Hyderabad. iGNA received financial support and guidance from Max Mueller Bhavan, Hyderabad till its closure in 1996. Afterward, it was supported by the Goethe Institute, Chennai; the consulate of Chennai, and DAAD, New Delhi. From 2010 onwards, it has been supported by the Goethe Institute, Hyderabad, and DAAD, New Delhi, IICT, CCMB, NGRI, UOH, ECI and other institutes , industries involved.
Objectivies
The objectives of IGNA are to provide a forum and an opportunity to maintain contact
between the returnees who visited Germany under different programs like DAAD.
AvH, CDG, KFA, and for other purposes like training, cultural exchanges, business,
and studies. Conduct conferences, seminars, and workshops on various scientific
and societal matters of current interest to India.
Membership of Execution
The membership today stands at 195+. Many of the members hold highly
distinguished positions in Government research institutions like N.G.R.I (CSIR),
Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR), University of Hyderabad, and public
sector undertakings like Electronics Corporation of India Ltd., HMT, Bharat Heavy
Electricals, Mishra Dhatu Nigam, and private business establishments. The
organization conducted several conferences, seminars, and Workshops in different
areas. Its efforts are to get connected with German experts on a continuous basis.
IGNA’s activities are planned and executed by an Executive Committee whose office
bearers are elected for two years.
